Improvements***
Before you
start any home improvement, you should contact the clerks office
to see if a contractors permit is required. Contractors permit is
$10.00 and can be picked up at Village Hall. Contractors will
need to show proof of insurance.
Remember Swimming Pool Owners
New York State Law requires a 4 foot fence to be installed
around your pool if it is 24 inches deep or deeper. Also if you
had a pool installed after December 14, 2006, including the
blow-up pools that are taken down and put up annually, you must
have an alarm system and a building permit. Please check with
our clerk at the Village Hall who can direct you to contact our codes officer. |

Greetings From Village Hall!
I hope this letter finds you well and looking forward
to summer. It is going to be a very busy time for out Village the
next few months. Major construction is taking place with the
completion of Lowes, Applebees, and the hospital expansion of Mercy
Care. |

We will
soon be going to you with a referendum to approve the board funding
a bond for the expansion of out fire hall. We hope to set the date
for voting in early June. I have included in this newsletter a brief
explanation of our proposal. Much more information will be coming to
you and we will plan a public hearing later this month. As I have
said before, we have opportunities to grow economically adding tax
base, jobs, and conveniences. We have had problems that accompany
prosperity and good fortune, but we work through them. We have a
rich historical legacy in out Village that is worth protecting. By
this I mean the quality of like we enjoy in our Village. |

As we are in the building
season, please check with our office 324-7894 to see if a building
permit is required. There are also in place new strict NY laws
concerning swimming pools. Please check again with our office.
We do receive complaints from time to time about out pets. The
Village has strict laws concerning clean up after your pet and
allowing your pets to run loose. Please be responsible and hopefully
with everyone’s co-operation this will be less of a problem.
In closing please take time to read my comments on the 34% Tax Rate
decrease the board adopted for our budget year 009-2010. This
article is included in this newsletter.

Important News

ALL TAP-INS
OF FIRE HYDRANTS IN THE VILLAGE OF NORTH HORNELL MUST BE
APPROVED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS. VIOLATORS WILL BE
PROSECUTED TO THE FULL EXTENT OF THE LAW!

All
contractors must fill out an application for a building permit
at Village Hall in order to work in the Village!!!

We
do receive complaints from time to time about our pets. The
village has strict laws concerning cleaning up after your pet
and allowing them to run loose. We have instructed our
officers to issue citations to violators. Hopefully with everyone's
co-operation this will become less of a problem.
