***Home
Improvements***
Before you
start any home improvement, you should contact the clerks office
to see if a contractors permit is required. Contractors permit is
$10.00 and can be picked up at Village Hall. Contractors will
need to show proof of insurance.
Remember Swimming Pool Owners
New York State Law requires a 4 foot fence to be installed
around your pool if it is 24 inches deep or deeper. Also if you
had a pool installed after December 14, 2006, including the
blow-up pools that are taken down and put up annually, you must
have an alarm system and a building permit. Please check with
our clerk at the Village Hall who can direct you to contact our codes officer. |

Greetings From Village Hall!
I hope this letter finds you well and looking forward
to a wonderful Christmas season. First I want to thank you for the
cards and encouragement I received during my recent heart problem. I
especially thank our staff and board for their support. I feel
stronger as the days go bye and hope to be back in the office this
week.
What a summer and fall we have had. Major construction of Lowes and
Applebee's are complete. St. James hospital is finishing the paper
work to build a third story outpatient hospital at the Mercy Care
site. |

What a benefit this will
be for our citizens to be able to go to that site for the most up to
date procedures that we might require.
The fire hall is progressing well. I thank you for the
very positive referendum we held in June. We should be under budget
and hopefully we can bring the existing hall up to code. We are
looking at a March finishing date.
As you know the board worked hard in this
endeavor. No new taxes! We lowered our
tax rate 34% from $5.55 per thousand to $3.60 per thousand.
Hopefully, we have more good news as we begin to work on next years
budget. |
|
You may have noticed that
some rental properties have been razed and new homes are being
built. I am very happy about this and it will continue. We are
presently in court with other properties. It does take time to
follow court procedures.
Many of my goals for our Village have been reached. We added retail
stores, a new fire hall and hopefully a new hospital. We are
cleaning up the blight in some neighborhoods.
I will now focus on the reconstruction of Seneca Rd. and the
addition of sidewalks, especially around the North Hornell school.
Please feel free to call my office at 327-7894 or my home 324-7214
with any concerns.
Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Mayor Falci

We
do receive complaints from time to time about our pets. The
village has strict laws concerning cleaning up after your pet
and allowing them to run loose. We have instructed our
officers to issue citations to violators. Hopefully with everyone's
co-operation this will become less of a problem.

Please
feel free to contact the mayor or any trustee with any questions that
